Our Values

Developing Strong Relationships: We believe that transformation occurs when community members, old and new, come together in ways that are mutually beneficial and self-sustaining.

Building Community: We believe that all of our neighbors, regardless of background, can make meaningful contributions to our community, and that intentional engagement with diverse experiences and approaches engenders vitality.

Fostering Equity: We believe that every voice and experience must be honored and respected, and that we must actively confront the barriers that hinder access to critical resources. We provide support to individuals and families regardless of age, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, cultural background, country of origin, language, legal status, disability status or political affiliation.

Promoting Solidarity: We believe in the critical work of dismantling the systems that perpetuate violence against people of color within our community and across our nation. Standing with those who are persecuted within our own borders is fundamentally intertwined with our work to promote a just, secure and equitable environment in partnership with our newest neighbors. We are cultivating a future in which all people, of all backgrounds and identities, can call this country home — a future in which we are truly free.

Beyond Refugees and Other Newcomers : HPRP stands in solidarity with our BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colors) siblings. We are committed to engaging, together, in the critical work of dismantling the systems that perpetuate violence against people of color within our community and across our nation. Safety, justice and equity are central tenants of our work to welcome and support families who have fled their countries to escape harm. As we walk alongside and create community with our newest neighbors, we must also join with those who are persecuted within our own borders. We believe in a future where all people, of all backgrounds and identities, can call this country home — a future in which we are truly free.

On Justice and Black Lives Matter

HPRP stands in solidarity with our Black sisters and brothers. We are committed to engaging, together, in the critical work of dismantling the systems that perpetuate violence against people of color within our community and across our nation. Safety, justice and equity are central tenants of our mission to welcome and support families who have fled their countries to escape persecution. As we walk alongside and create community with our newest neighbors, we must also join with those who are persecuted within our own borders. We believe in a future where all people, of all backgrounds and identities, can call this country home — a future where we are truly free.
