About

The Hyde Park Refugee Project (HPRP) is a volunteer organization that was founded in 2016 as a program of the Hyde Park and Kenwood Interfaith Council. HPRP began as a community co-sponsorship group assisting in the resettlement of refugee families, in collaboration with RefugeeOne, the largest refugee resettlement agency in Illinois. Although this remains a central feature of our work, HPRP has since expanded its scope and now provides an array of programs and services for immigrants of diverse backgrounds residing on the South Side of Chicago, with a focus on supporting those who have recently arrived in the United States.

The Hyde Park Refugee Project is a designated 501(c)(3) organization.

What We Do

Holistic Support for Newcomers: Through close mentorship, we assist refugees and other recently arrived immigrants with support around:

• Education
• Employment
• Healthcare
• Housing
• Social Services

Educational Programming for English-Language Learners: We provide educational and language support to children and adults through a number of avenues, including:

• After-school programming
• Individual tutoring
• Small group classes
• Summer camp

Community Collaborations: We are continuously working to build relationships with local nonprofit agencies and community groups supporting refugees and other immigrants. Currently, we partner with:
